Agreed. If your getting a custom made tank take don't cheap out. And a custom made tank is actually way cheaper than a store bought tank.
Oh and another thing to do is not let them use particle board on the bottom. It looks so terrible

Mine has the plywood bottom but I had the glass blacked out so you can't see it. You can only see the edge at the bottom which is easy to cover up.

It's greatly appreciated.

I think I read the plywood adds stability? Is it not necessary? Or perhaps I can have it painted white first?

It adds protection to the glass bottom and it's also something to build on they can have the bottom blacked out , white or blue same with acrylics they have the matching colors as an alternative if you pay they can use acrylic sheet for the bottom
