My concern is the rubber that it sits into all thier other peer heads I have the rubber has hardened and made unuseable

Korallia will send out free impeller magnets if you ask them. Also the store where you bought it should have some too.
Send an email to hydorusa.office@hydor.com and they will help you out. I'm on my third set of magnets. I find that they tend to start backwards more often as the magnets get weaker. Cheers, Tim
