![]() How old can a tank be?
I hear silicone can last 10 years, I hear that tanks have been running 15-20 years. So realistically how long can silicone and plumbing seals last? My tank is over 6 years old. All is fine. Silicone and relevant seals are good. Just wondering.

![]() I have been using the same tank for 14 years. On and off too so the silicone has gone through a lot of dry/wet cycles. It still seems fine, other than some scratches on the glass.

![]() I have a 33 gallon that is 17yrs old and no issues and I had a 10 gallon that I had from childhood that was still in great shape when I sold it 2 yrs ago.
Then again I've seen tanks that split 3 days after filling with water.
