Because the water height is only 24" you can get 1/2" starfire tempered

the other sides can also be 1/2" tempered or 5/8" regular float

Then use 2 cross braces about 3" wide each ... that way if you want to add powerheads etc there is nothing to block you from doing so

I would predrill it for closed loops and returns though as that is a much cleaner look IMO
