I have been getting great results from ice chilled imported Akvavit a little pricey but very effective 20 grms every morning ...

get rid of the rum, don't work to go, go get your self a good bottle of 40 creek. mix 1part rye to 3 or 4 parts coke.
repeat as necessary  Steve
