I would remove the window, but it's an older house and I'm not sure I could put it back together in a way that she wouldn't notice.

As a backup plan, she's ok with me finishing the stand in the house, but I'd have to tarp myself in to do the router work.

Sorry Brad but LOL I have a question... Is the tank going to fit thru the door?

too big if you take the door off?if you're putting foam under your tank then you can just screw the top down(countersink).or if you're painting the top you can fill the holes with dynapatch and paint over them after sanding

Problem is the design requires the top to be routered once attached. If I do the top separately, it would be finished before attaching, so I would need to attach from underneath with brackets (like a counter top).

Plan B is just drape the whole project and myself in a plastic sanding booth for the router work I might even post a pic of that.

Don't think brackets are required. Once the water is in the tank it ain't moving

I've decided to do it properly (so unlike me) and disassemble and shorten the stand. I want to keep the original design and it has to leave the house one day, preferably in one piece
