its gasping is this a long tentickle plate ? if so its normal for them to die

Try increasing its feeding also what can help is a half cut pop bottle over it and feed in the top so other things don't get the food, they do look like that before death but its one of the corals that can recover rather quickly if given the right water and food

Mine did that randomly a few months ago after having it for like 4 months with no problems i feed it more for like a week and its all back to normal

What you need to check is if there is any tear on the edges. Try to move his location to a gentle flow area and check the bottom to make sure no bristle worm is eating the flesh. You also want to check at night if there's any crab bugging the coral
