well time for an update:P

the tank has seen some ups and downs as with any new tank but finally got it back on track.

i lost most of the sps, dealt with some hidden nutrients and mixed with a bout of AEFW and monti nudis i pulled what was left out , so now i guess im all lps and zoas lol

the biopelllets have finally established and the gfo is keeping the rest down so all algae has disappeared and im doing 93g water changes once a week , after a bit longer i will switch to once every two weeks.

i am dosing alk and calcium as well as mg constantly and have finally found a dose that keeps it stable. dosing calcium chloride, soda ash as well mag(mix of sulphate and chloride)

i doubt i will add much back for sps i did keep a small red planet acro in there as well as a yellow millie but the rest got pulled.

i am now back in the stocking stages and have added a bunch of highend zoanthids , mostly one and two polyp frags so time will be needed to notice them lol

i recently added another ghl and then lowered them down 4" from where they were before , seems to have a positive effect. the new ghl is a 6100 while the other three are a 6200 i have some tinkering to do as far as visual color goes lol

i also did the skirting on the stand we went with black 12" x12" tiles trimmed with schluter and the doors are gloss black acrlyic that will have a peel and stick vinyl sticker with concepts compant logo on it

current fish list:

10" blonde naso tang
7" male blue throat trigger
4" chocolate tang(scopas)
4" powder brown tang
wyoming white clonfish(2")
platinum clownfish(2")
2" spotted boxfish
5" mag foxface
5" rabbit fish(blue lined ?)
9" sailfin tang
4" velvet wrasse
2" green chromis(wth?)

Well, this should put that LED "can't grow SPS" debate to rest.

Can't wait to check this out in person.

We also gave up on the GHL Mitras for our SPS system. Just not enough PAR to keep them well colored.

Currently swapping them out for 400w 20k Radium MH.

yeah im having a hell of a time finding a color that i like that the corals like as well , i have something down now and the corals seem to be loving the spectrum but i personally hate the color.

my sps issue was more of poor reefer practise and we wanted an instant sps tank so dipping got skipped, i knew better but it is what it is . first came the nudis for montipora then ended in a AEFW bout.

as far as leds go period theres none that i really like , seems if you play with the colors to something that is visually appealing the corals suffer.

i had to drop the mitras down another 4" but seems to bleach lps easily enough , my chalices arnt happy at all but everything else has finally come around

cheers

400w Radium give off a lot less PAR then the GHL Mitras I dont think it can be done. where you lamps on 100%

i would love to see the results as i find them dim to the eye but obviously they bleach lps pretty easily if at a higher intensity.
