Default Point and shoot

I don't really take a lot of pictures and when I do I usually just use my cellphone. I have tried to take pictures of my tank with it and they are terrible. So I am looking for advice on an affordable point and shoot camera that will let me take pictures of my tank. Hope you all can help me. Thanks.

I use an Olympus TG-2, which is great for underwater shots of your corals.

And here is a discussion back when I first got it and was learning to use it.

And how to adjust my white balance for proper color with LEDs.

I really like it now. Also go into my tank journal to see more recent pics with this camera.

The only complaint I ever had was the lack of a manual focus. But then again, most point and shoot cams don't have that capability.

The TG-2 has been out for about a year now, though, and it's possible that a follow-on TG-3 may be available soon.

Solutions are easy. The real difficulty lies in discovering the problem.

No, the tg-830 is a lower end camera. The tg-2 has an F2.0 lens which is very good for lower light super macro shots, as when shooting corals underwater up close.

I use an older Canon G10, awesome everyday camera with lots of manual control. There are newer models in the G series however I have seen the G10 sell for around $200 on craigslist and that's a super price for a very solid camera that will give you great images of anything!

Panasonic lumix lx-3, lx5, or lx 7 is really good...pick one up used for $150 to $274. Lx7 is very good and being replaced soon with next model

I have a G10 as well. It went over 17k MILES with me on my motorcycle.

Is it better to shoot your corals from inside the water or outside through the glass?

Well, depends on your camera. As I mentioned in my earlier post the Olympus TG-2 does great underwater, and really up close for super macro shots.
