Fungus on sun coral?

What if I cut that side of the coral off? Do you think that would help?

Before you do this I would let others give their opinions but after what I know about this type of sponge if it were mine I would toss the whole thing as I don't want that to spread onto anything else. Once it takes hold its very hard to get rid of, even cutting away at it will not help I tried that too.
