![]() Hi i was planning on setting up a Aqua clear refugium on my tank and i was wondering what kinda of stuff do you guys put in there?
sand and macro algae? or do you need some small pieces of live rock too? Also are these types of refugiums really effective? any info you can give me would be much appreciated, thanks ![]() |

![]() You did ask, and no, a refugium that size would be ineffective.

![]() I disagree... a properly setup AC300 would be a nice refugium for a smaller tank. I had an AC300 modified with an AC150 impeller on my LR holding tank. It worked just fine for the purpose I had in mind (growing out the small lump of chaetomorpha I had, and reducing waste products in the tank). Many people use modified AC filters as a refugium on nano tanks. Though if you're thinking about putting one on a larger tank, then no, it won't be as effective, but it'll still work.

![]() I have a AC500 on my 20H and I can't really tell a difference! Maybe I just need to give it some time...
