Any recommendations on a salt with less alk?
How long has it been like this? I started using H2Ocean specifically because I found its Alk to be lower, but I've noticed in the past 6 months my Alk has been climbing up in to the 8.5-9 range and the only thing I can attribute this to is the salt. I'd love to be able to switch to a less expensive salt...

switched from IO to H2ocean about 7 months ago. Don't have many corals so not dosing. Thought the better salt would give me more of the required trace elements.

Well I've for sure noticed with H2Ocean that you need more of it per unit volume of water to get to the right salinity compared to IO, so there's definitely more of something in it compared to other brands. Annoying that it makes it run out faster though.

I use 2 cups per 5 gallon to reach 1.026 while IO takes ~3 cups per 5 gallon to reach 1.026. I haven't measured the weight but h2ocean is definitely heavier but takes lesser volume to reach the SG.
