I've heard a sledge hammer is good for permanently stopping leaks if used strategically. Never tried it myself. If you do, please post Youtube video

I'm not sure how this would affect fish and coral, but it's safe for kids so must be safe for aquaria, right? I'm sure it would slow, if not stop a leak.
