My golly, stunning pictures! I love how the black background accentuates everything. One day if mine even came close I would be a happy man.

Lol thanks. I have the lights off in the room so that helps gives some corals the black background. Otherwise I think it's shooting with F22 that squeezes the light out of the background of shots where there is stuff behind the corals. I don't really know much about my camera or the terminology.

You'd laugh if you saw my 'workflow'.

1. shoot a metric butt-tonne of photos
2. toggle between them and pick the best one for each shot. mostly check and pray one is mostly in focus
3. open in photoshop and do the following to every one:

3a. auto colour
3b. auto contrast
3c. auto tone

photoshop allows you to fade from 0 - 100% the effect of each of these. sometimes a command totally messes with the shot and you don't apply it at all.

3d. sharpen

Thx the more I use the silly macro lens the more I wished I could afford to own one!
