If you have access to a table saw or a friend with a table saw, they can help you rip the edge so its straighter.

2x4 can look straight to the eye but even being slightly warped you wont notice until you put something perfectly straight on it which is why most people recommend using rigid insulation to help combat that when making a stand from 2x material.

Which is also reason I'll never build a stand with anything but plywood because I know my cuts are straight and I don't need rigid insulation under the tank so there is no ugliness to the display!

ok I took a picture of the front member, as u can see its warped down the middle is the lowest spot, I shim it w a sample laminated counter top from home depot, I will also putting a 3/4" plywood and 1" pink insulation Styrofoam, can I use the white Styrofoam or pink one is a must? should I shim the whole member or certain spot should be fine? the shim is about 0.045" or 3/64

Stand is 48" wide correct? If so you can probably use 2 shims spaced evenly apart if you can fit them and then the 3/4" will span the rest
