![]() Honestly, I'd leave it for a while and see if the tank balances out. IMO, messing around with the sand in a reef isn't good. Mine is pretty clean and I haven't touched it in years.

![]() I had something similar happen to me and I've just finished the three day complete darkness cycle which took care of the carpet algae (I believe mine was a minor cyano due to a dead giant strawberry hat snail which I spotted after a few days (so didn't have the time to take it out right away).
