FS; Too many blue tangs!

Thought putting six 2.5" blue tangs in one tank is ok but i was wrong. They're chasing each other and stressed out. Need to thin out the crowd. Keeping one and need new homes for the other five. $50 each firm

Generally you can keep multiple tangs in a larger tank if they're different species but they are territorial so it's still 50/50 . There are always exceptions to the rules

No, regal tangs get very large and are very territorial. One will out grow a 125g within 2 years.

All the literature I've read states that one would be fine to adulthood in a 125, particularly if there is a lot of swimming and hiding spaces.

Not sure what you've been reading but even live aquaria which tends to err on the small side says a minimum of 180g.

I had one in a 120g and when he got to 5" (went from 3"-5" within a year) it was obvious that he was outgrowing the tank, started getting very aggressive and swam in a stressed sporatic mannor. So I upgraded to a 230g and even then I found it on the small side for him when he got to 8". They get to a foot long in size, a 12" fish is an extremely tight fit for a 125g.
