Personally I wouldn't risk it. You could reinforce the corner with a section of glass inside the tank, but that would require a reseal job.

![]() I would file a claim with your insurance for a new tank.. If that was a top corner I wouldn't worry too much, but being at the bottom the whole tank will drain if it leaks.

![]() Very mixed opinions here, however I think with a chip that has no visible cracks, and all seems to be terminated, I think you'll be fine. I have a sump with a chunk missing from the corner and it's been fine for 3 years.
What I did was thouroughly examined the area with a magnifying glass to make sure that there was no residual cracks as a result of the chip (any tiny cracks could easily run when filled and result in a large leaking crack). I then filled the chip with silicone using an acrylic corner square to make it look nice and flush. You can barely notice it's even there. I would risk it if there are no cracks. However that being said.... if you can get a brand spankin new tank from your insurance company... then do it! lol.

![]() Is it possible to get 2 pieces of glass and then use some kind of glass glue to reinforce this corner from the inside? I would then use aquarium silicone to reseal this corner.
Thoughts? |
