This has come up before and I contacted GE directly (nobody know more about a product than the manufacturer) as did others and all were told that this silicone is not aquarium safe. The product label itself states "NOT FOR: Surfaces that will exceed 400 degrees, food contact surfaces, aquariums." Whether this is just to cover their tails or not I can't say as I have used it in the past as well with no issues. But when the same company makes SCS1200 which is aquarium safe one has to wonder why the GE I brand says it's not.

I bought a tube of the GE Silicone 1* as listed on the first post, but I believe it is unfit for aquariums as it says contains petroleum distillates in very fine print on the back, and also says not for use below the waterline in aquariums.
