I wasn't impressed with the 942l out of the box but after playing with the settings I was happy with the results. Let's face it 640 x 480 is only going to look so good. As a standalone camera, it is very user friendly and Dlink has done a good job with access via iphone/ipad and web browser.

I purchased the Dericam M801W. I had heard good things and it comes with true Optical zoom. Here is a link to one of the many reviews out there. http://www.dannyvanmaanen.nl/?p=965&lang=en

Price was good at $115 from eBay. Mine has the IR cut option. I don't have it running in the fish room yet, but my tests before moving were awesome.

The Dericam site is down tonight...not sure why. Hope this helps.

I just received 2 Foscams FI8910W, they're not bad for the money. Still lacking dynamic range, but color is OK.

Camera is on the left side of my reef tank right against the glass.

For the money, you can't go wrong. I got them at http://foscamcanada.com, use coupon code: happy for 20% off.
Cheers.

Hi Denis and Happy New Year! I am thinking about getting one as well. My doctor has several of these in his home and he showed me how it works with his iPhone. Have you tried the camera in low light or darkness? Im curious how well the IR works with the camera. Also, are they going tobe compatible with the new Windows 8? BTW, your tank looks great!

I could never get my streaming video to work in Internet Explorer on my APEX page with the foscam, and I couldn't get my outlet page to load in Chrome. Which program do you use?
