If it grows fast and cover the surface, get rid of it. It blocks the light, cuts down fresh air exchange.

That, plus it traps food, and gets into and all over your equipment, and all over your arms etc

inhabitants in some of the smaller pond simply got choke to death when the surface is cover by duck weed.

thanx everyone i think its frogbit. i personally like it and don't mind keeping it thinned out.
