UV sterilizer.... Is it worth it to run?

I got a properly sized UV (40watt Emperor Aquatics) for my setup and I can assure you it does make a difference.

I originally got it to help my fish beat velvet (and it worked) but I also noticed less film on my glass and my skimmer is pulling out more gunk than ever before.

I am able to maintain low NO3/PO4 without using carbon or GFO so far. LOVE IT!
