My scroll does that any time it is irratated at something - ie when I moved it to get at a frag that the tuxedo urchin dropped behind the rockwork - when it was exposed to air during a partial water change - etc. Usually the slime goes away fairly quickly.

I kept basting it when the slime appeared and mostly the problem has gone away. The areas that were dying are coming back quite well so far.
