![]() +1 on the 5 meter reels of strip lights you can get off ebay. Can't beat the price & many of the RGB reels are available with the controllers, remotes & power supply. Only down side is you need to wait a while to get 'em. Pretty sure manufacturers use the same reels to make the small aluminum fixtures & T8 fluorescent tube LED replacements you find that are way marked up in price. Same SMD chips. You can cut them at every 3 LEDs without altering the voltage required to run them, typically 12 volt DC. I've ordered a couple of reels myself for various purposes, including possible Xmas lighting. I think sphelps has a reel for sale. You just need to be careful which kind you order. There are different kinds of LEDs, different density (more or fewer LEDs per meter) varying degrees of waterproofing or non water proof. 5050 Leds are a good choice since they're fairly bright although the 3528s would probably suffice for night lighting. There are also some double row reels available & newer ones with even brighter 5630 & 7070 SMD LEDs. Won't be long & they'll have something we can use as primary lighting for our reefs. I also found a site that sold the aluminum extrusion material with covers & clips so you can build your own little fixtures, but didn't save to favourites & no longer have it. Must search.
