for what it's worth, some of the most useful containers are rubbermaid boxes with lids. they don't break as easily as styrofoam, and can be used for other household stuff storage after. Good for live rock w/o water, live sand w/ bit of water, wet sloppy slimy gear etc.

live fish is better carried in buckets w/ lids and about 30-50% water. Corals the same but individually in bags to minimize touching/burning... I personally don't bother to seal the bags if it's short transport... just physical barrier from one another.
