Very sorry to hear about your loss. I guess you can rest a little easier knowing how she died as opposed to it being a mystery.

when I feed my fish, I slice off a little chunk of brine or mysis and place in a espresso cup to thaw just before feeding. Then with a knife I scoop the thawed food out of the cup with the knife and in the tank it goes. This leaves all the liquid from the food behind.

I'm curious why you rinse it? And also how do you strain it?

I have an old net and the mesh is abouit the consistancy on a ladys nylon. You could make your own with an old net frame and cut the toe out a nylon and stretch it over the frame. Just takes the extra fine particles out that I find is pollition more than food

I use an old fishnet from my 20g freshwater tank. For rinsing I just add another pint of fresh rodi
I do the same with blood worms for my freshwater tank as I like to get the frozen water off since I really don't know what's in there.

Thanks for the tips everyone. I've just been lazy about getting food ready on the spot. I'll change my ways and go back to the old tank water thaw method
I'm not even sure this was the cause of Cleo's demise, but it's a good time to develop better habits

For rinsing I use a $2 brine shrimp net and pour RO water through it

molotov, it's best to rinse frozen as you don't want all the excess oils in your tank feeding nuisance algae

Ginu, glad to hear your Kole found it's appetite for nori
