Here's one of mine. Yellow ring blasto. Taken with my old point and shoot camera + flash.

The Pièce de résistance of my LPS collection: My Aussie Ultra Rainbow Acan Lord 26 polyp mini-colony!

My camera, lighting and photography skill s*x so I brought this acan over to my friend March's place (marc3lo19) and he photographed it for me using his dslr under his full spectrum lights.

Photo taken by March:

No photo editing was done at all. I watched as it took March only about 5 minutes to take the pictures, transfer them to his computer, convert to jpeg and email them out to me. What took longer was waiting for the acan to adequately open up/ inflate in his tank. That took around 30 minutes.

For comparison the pictures below are taken with my old point and shoot camera in my 40B mix display macro algae and coral tank.

I spot lit the acan with my all actinic par38 bulb to show what it looks like under actinics:

Same shot with my t5ho plant lights turned on and par 38 actinic used for accent:

Some shots from the side/ front of the tank:

Spot lit with my par 38 all actinic bulb:

Same shot with just my aquarium lights (t5ho) lights on:

It seems I'm developing a liking to blastos now... LOL.

The latest addition to my collection of LPS ... a colony of red rimmed, maroon/ black center, neon green mouth blastos!

Purchased 1+ weeks ago here it is still in the store bag. Picture taken under a 2300K desk lamp:

Different angle with the desk lamp facing away/ low light shot.

Under my par 38 leds... 6 blues 4 white 2 red array.

Wow that blasto is going to look off the charts once it starts to relax and open up more. Please post a couple more pictures after it's been in your tank a week or two (please and thank you!)!

Thanks! I'll post some pics once my tank's in a better looking state. Currently dealing with an infestation of flatworms and pyramid snails. Had no idea where the pyramid snails came from and only started noticing them after they killed off 15 of my black foot trochus snails - ugh. Finally found a shell of a common clam underneath one of my blasto colonies - I guess that's where the pyramid snails hitchhiked on. So now my tank's infested with nuisance algae, flatworms and pyramid snails. Just dandy.

No clams and normal snails have been dead/ taken out 2 weeks now so there isn't any / much source of food left for the pyramid snails and about to use flatworm exit so tank should be back to normal in about 2 weeks or so. I don't think the colors of the blastos will change much; just look more 'fleshy' I suppose. Back to war on these little pests!
