![]() I have a whole thread dedicated to growth sequence photos of Snappy's Rainbow Stylo...here are a few pics from it.
http://www.canreef.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=62625 Aug 30, 2009 ![]() March 17, 2010 ![]() July 31, 2011 ![]() It is now another 50% bigger...I should take another photo of it. The color of it really changes to reflect the overall performance of the system. It is one of the first corals to drop its color when things are amiss, and one of the first to color back up. I also find this coral very difficult to capture the true colors with my camera. Last edited by Myka; 07-29-2012 at 03:36 AM. |

![]() Doug - thanks for posting that HOT Acan. That has really grown into a great looking colony. (looks just like it's mother)
![]() Mindy - thanks for the cool growth sequence shots of that stylo (how did I manage to miss your original thread on that?)- that is a great coral and you are right about it being hard to capture it's true colors. That coral gets color morphs like nothing else I've seen before or since. Below are a few shots of what the mother looked like. ![]() ![]() ![]()

![]() Greg that is what mine looks like! I just can't get the color right on the camera. My piece looked exactly like your photos in the July 31, 2011 photo above, but my photography doesn't show it!
Mine does have blue tips in the areas closest to the halides though. You can see the blue tips in the Mar 17, 2010 photo above. So the tips are blue which fade into pink for about 3/4", then the base is yellow. The polyps on the base are green with white polyp tips and the polyps on the tips are blue with white polyp tips. You can see the white polyp tips in your photos, but not mine. It is a gorgeous piece at peak color. I will try to get a good pic of how it is now. It is currently 10 x 12". |

![]() I have so many favorites from Greg!
Two of my favorites from Snappy side by side. This was taken last month. the corky has branched out a little bit ![]() Have the long green polyp that is just gorgeous in the current. will post a pic of it when the lights come on. 80% of my live stock in my tank is Snappy's stuff! |
