Currently its hanging on the side of a a 40G, so I'd say total width is around 10 inches or so considering the room it has on both sides.

Heres a photo to show you its relative width along the edge of the tank:



The unit is conditionally sold at the moment to a gentleman in Abbotsford, just waiting to arrange a time to meet.
