![]() Austenitic stainless steels (304 and 316) are corroded by chloride ions. Prolonged exposure while under stress will cause cracking. Heat makes it worse.
I would avoid it for a stand. |

![]() 316 is what we use for our check valves - very hardy, maybe just not in salt water :P
I can get 317, i will talk to the metal dood today and see what he says, although he also told me 316 would work fine o_O. Can you think of any other draw backs to using metal? Beth
