Why not just get a new shaft.
I have use this in other pumps than Fluval to replace broking ceramic shaft

Thank you for the info I might go this route. Unfortunately I think when the shaft broke the impelled cover fell apart. So depending on availability and price. I am hoping to find a more powerful one like a fx 4

I have a Fluval X5 used for only 3 months from a previous owner that I bought off a guy from the website almost a year ago. I haven't used it since I have been working out of town.

I'll give it to you for $150 firm.
