Use to but not now. This pc is for my son for getting "A" on his report card.

if its a gift for your son i would definently go with alieware. i have one myself and they are reliable and he wont be looking to uograde for a while atleast
if budget is an issue then i would settle for a dell xps decent and reliable but outdated fast
if you just dont like the brands i would suggest sending me a pm with a price in mind and i can help you select a nice one within that range (let me know if its a laptop or a desktop)
just for your info i have tons of experience with these things(this is practically all i do)

He was getting $5 for every "A" when he was in grade 4 & 5.

For good pc gaming am I looking for CPU, video card, and motherboard right?

the first thing you need to make sure is good is the video card
if going with nvidia make sure you stay higher than gt 525
if going with ati any 6 series will be sufficient
a good processor stay in the range of a i5 and if you can get an i7 (make sure they are 2nd generation)
next make sure ram is enough see if you can get more than 6 gb

motherboard you really dont have to worry about if you are getting the above items then the motherboard will be decent if not really good

Saw one at Future Shop yesterday for $1500.00. i7 2nd gem. 8gb of ram and I think it's nivdia 530.

at that price it has to have something more
can you specify what you are looking at (laptop or desktop)
