I found a video that really looks like the mantis I have, same color and maybe a bit bigger.

I have read that only smashers live in the liverock and the spearer only live in the sand and rarely make it as hitchicker because of that, so I probably have a smasher. I guess they are much less dangerous for fish then?

still just as dangerous they are both super fast with theyre arms be it smasher or spearer.


if its a smasher you should be able to here it making its burrow should be a few small fast clicks in a row

I never heard any click, so either I was not there when it did it or it is not a smasher then, not sure.

Big or small mantis shrimp are opportunists and in my eyes evil. I wouldn't take the risk of leaving it in your tank.
