Default lighting question

i have a 150 gallon reef tank with a canopy over the top and down the sides with enclosed cabinets can i install 24 inch t5 lighting on the side to shine into the tank ? or will this cause some intense magnifing affect ?

As per your comment in the other thread, which, btw, was totally uncalled for, the reason nobody answered this is probably because it makes no sense. Why in the world would you want to do this? It would make the tank look like crap with sideways shadows, it would probably make the fish swim on an angle and your corals would grow towards the light, which would look completely unnatural.
