What is the stuff that gets used for furnance thermostats and doorbells? That's 18, isn't it? Or is that stranded... I'm not sure.

One final note ... I went and asked one of our wiring/cabling jockeys and he suggested EECOL too, so ... looks like Walter's suggestion gets another vote.

I spoke to EECOL and they will sell a 2 pair flat 18 AWG for $0.30/m

I could get a 300m roll of single conductor from Texcan for $42 but I figure I need 4m so it is a bit of an overkill.

Sorry I took so long to reply (working in the bush again.)
I was wiring up some WH7s to VHO. If you need some I have about 50ft of the good stuff if brown is alright.

If you are needing solid for a wire clip should just go for stranded (zip or lamp cord) and either tin or ferrel the ends.

this depends entirly on the use of the wire.. and it hasn't been stated what he wants the wire for.

Thought was for ballast? I had to replace some end caps and the wiring from the ballast was stranded. Was a bit a of pain pushing the wire into the clip (had the odd loose strand folding back). Little bit of solder, much easier.

Stranded is more flexible and less likely to break if repeatedly flexed and a little easier to source in the smaller gauges.
