Wire in Calgary

Where can I buy 18 AWG solid core wire in Calgary?

Having issues with 14 AWG I got.

EECOL or Westburn. EECOL is usually cheaper....

Maybe, I'm not sure  HD doesn't sell it?

Good luck buddy.
I just went thru the same search. One can find it if they are willing to buy 300m. Rona sells 18AWG solid off the roll. If you are thinking of using it for the same application as I was make sure you also add 600V to your search criteria. Otherwise I have a roll of 2 wire hanging out in my garage. Also I have about 50ft of single 18AWG 600v solid in brown.

Kari,

What were you using it for?

I used 18 solid (place doesn't exist where I got it anymore though, sorry) on my first canopy for the fluorescent sockets. Unfortunately I nicked some of the insulation and eventually the stuff starting arc'ing and that was the end of that.

I can't think of any of the wiring places. I'm thinking of a place just off 32nd near Barlow that will have it for sure, but confound it I can't remember the name now.

Man, how useless is this reply? Sorry I'll maybe PM you tomorrow when I remember the name of the place.

Thanks Tony. I'm trying to wire up my T5's. Ballast calls for 18 AWG. I've got 14 but it is Way too stiff to work with.

Ok. Now that I've had a cup of coffee ...

The last place I bought some cabling from was a place called Texcan. They seem to have all sorts of stuff related to wiring and cabling. I bet that they have what you need, but I'm not sure if you'd have to buy a whole spool or if they'll cut to order.

Here is their webpage you can look up their Calgary address and contact info: www.texcan.com

If you still have trouble finding some, let me know. Because I can ask some of our wiring guys here at work. They were the ones that set me up with the other place that I got the 18awg solid-core from, I think I bought a spool of it for $20 (so not entirely unreasonable to buy the spool at that kind of price) -- it's just too bad that this one place (which was by Costco) is no longer in business or moved or something.

Tony,

I don't suppose you have any left on that roll do you?

Am I nuts for looking for solid core? Should I just go with stranded?

Jim
