Scott Michael's "Reef Aquarium Fishes" shows the first picture you have posted as a Lubbock's fairy wrasse.
Yeah Brett, that's definitely not a Laboutei. I'm pretty sure the first one is a Lubbock's wrasse. Question is, what's the second one.

I have one of the first fish..... Came to us at the store as a Lubbocks.... I, like you have been confused ever since trying to find a positive ID

From what I found they are both lubbock wrasses. The first one is a striped lubbock and the second one is a multicoloured lubbock.
