What every one seems to be saying is that you'll be fine. The lower rate gives your skimmer and heater more time to work.

you can still have a return that is running at 900 GPH and a refugium that is flowing at 200 gph just tee off the return to go to the refugium and a slow rate while the rest will return to the display tank.
