Yep you are. Are you running gfo and carbon?? Cuz there could be phosphates and Sullicas building up... Well if u have hair algee.. U have phosphates. Check them and do something to control them. SLOWLY!! Cuz if you have no phosphates and Sullica, your algee will have no food. And get yourself a sea hair! He will eat up what's left on your rock.. Before u do anything else.. Check your phosphates.

+1 its the phos, gfo or " phosdown" and get strict on what hits your tank...sea hares are great but be sure to pass him on to another reefer once your algae is gone as he will starve without gha.

Keep in mind though, even if you dont get a reading for phosphate, doesnt mean that you dont have any as the algae is probably absorbing it all and would cause a false reading. I know that is what happened to my smaller tank that had hair algae, I didnt have any phosphate readings at all but algar was growing everywhere. I got a seahare and it did a great job on it but unless you fix the cause, it will never go away, my issue was overfeeding.

Default Overfeeding

had a horrible experience with hair algae just recently

+ 1 on overfeeding I know I was I also reduced my lights To 5 hrs from 10 on the mh and went from 12 to 7 on my pcs.....

i also found that without an auto top off my skimmer was way underperforming due to the fluctuating water level. as soon as I added the auto top off it leveled out and pulled way more I'm sure this was the icing on the cake.

Not an expert by any means.........Just 2 cents
