![]() Actualy they need low level of phosphates and nitrates to get good color and to grow well but they do grow much faster and better when they are fed. I feed my sps with Zeovit Amino acid, Fauna marin ultra seafan, reefroid, coral frenzy and rotifeast.
Good light is also needed. Many people think they don't need anything but light but the reason why SPS grow better and faster in a mature tank is the amount of zooplankton that is establish, at least according to an article in the Coral Magazine "Is your reef anorexic?". My SPS grow really fast but I feed a lot of coral food each day and my nitrates and phosphates are undetectible.
