Jeez...
I find my stuff looking light starved after 6 months with this fixture.
I think some active cooling woulkd make a huge difference in this.

I ran a 6 bulb for a while, the 8 bulb not only puts out more par, but your ability to dial in the colour you like is just not doable in halides or for under 1 million dollars going the led route.

The advantage to the 8 bulb units is that you can fine tune your colours. However, if, for example, you have just ONE Fiji Purple bulb and it starts to go off, you're really going to notice it.

Of course it also really depends on what you have in your tank. I've got SPS that was thriving under 14 month old bulbs. Go figure !
