Hey mike, yeah Im skimmerless right now, Im hoping the cheato will do the job for me now untill it gets a little more diverse. I ran the skimmer right after it cycled to clean everything right up.

Take a look at this tank, Im hoping for something along the lines of this, all he's got is cheato and a few hangon filters

Ill throw the skimmer back on later down the road

Default Any ideas?

This is my problem. I wanted to paint the back of my tank from the beginning but it somehow slipped to the wayside, now i'm kinda stuck for what I can do.
1. Painting the back is a possibility still but my only concern is that you'll still be able to see into it.
2. I thought about a piece of acrylic in the overflow but I don't think the colours will match the paint even if perfectly matched beforehand (see picture - the darker is on the outside the other on the side and the last inside the overflow)
3. I am now thinking that I can get a full sheet of thin acrylic to place inside the tank the full length of the wall. BUT there are two issues with that - how to get it to stay flush with the back wall and there are a few points of my rock work that is against the wall ( I cant move it very easily)

Here is the colour problem (they are all the same - left to right, inside overflow, outside tank (darker), inside tank (same as overflow)

Anyone got any thoughts or other suggestions?

Default LIGHTS! Custom Lights...12 Bulb Tek Lights :)

Hey Guys so last night was a long one! I have two 6 bulb 3 foot Tek lights that I needed to put over my tank. Why two, you may ask and I would say because I have an odd tank that is 3 foot long by 3 foot wide by 2 foot tall. Next you may ask why not just 2 250w MH's and I would say because this tank is in my room and its hot enough in that place without MH's cooking me like a chicken. So here it is my custom 12 bulb 3 foot Tek light that took me from 8pm till 430am to build so my tank had light again in the morning

I stopped about halfway through and thought hey, yo guys might want to see this so I grabbed my camera.
So here is where we start...two perfectly working, in good condition, made in 2008, 6x39w Tek Lights

Then I started to cut, and cut, and cut, and cut some more!

After that was done I put it together to create the outer shell for my masterpiece

Then I had to relocate the cords and switches all to one side

Now I started to rewire this bizznich

Next came the reflectors! Just about done only 5 hours later

Now the lights and look at that baby glow
