Thanks for the replies. Yes I have valves on everything. Are you saying all I have to do is reduce the flow and things should be fine? Here I took some pictures of when the water was flowing, maybe this will narrow down the suggestions. ![]() ![]() |

![]() Put a 90 degree "U" on it so it sucks from below the surface (I'd put a screen on it too so errant livestock doesn't get sucked in).
I've had a horrendous sucking sound since I got into this hobby. Turns out it's not my overflow but money being siphoned from my wallet..... ![]()

![]() I would just get rid of that first standpipe (tornado one) and make the emergency one taller (almost to the height of the overflow itself). This is how I have mine set up.

![]() Try to turn the valve on the shorter standpipe closed a little to raise the water level in the overflow so that the water level is about an inch from the top of the taller standpipe.
