![]() well i orginally had 1 big sponge and to my stupidity i put it in direct flow ...after realizing what i had done I moved it to a different part, it was still dieing so i call J&L and they said that the sponge needs lots of light..I also went to King Eds and they said that sponges dont need sponges and the reason that it was dieing is because of algai growth that is blocking the pores into the sponge...Due to the two totally opposite advice from both these stores, I decided to break it apart into two pieces and do a lil experiment. I pet 1 under some rocks in a mild flow and the other ontop of the rocks and well U can see the one on the left is doin much better than the one on the right so I decided that it needs lights.. Thats why they are so far on top..Well now i dont know that to do because the one thats not doing well is still not doing well

![]() I would say it needs to be feed, and cleaned, more than anything. They seem to do well when dosing phytoplankton... And I have kept them very healthy under 2 40W bulbs.

![]() I had good luck with sponges in a well shaded area that gets some water flow, not alot but enough. I dosed DTs often and had lots of other stuff in the tank. Sponges must be kept clean, any ditrius and or algae will kill it.
