You bet, I have gone with 2"x2"x3/16"wall, just like we talk about about a month ago. It will be plenty strong, benefit of having a welding shop at your disposal is you don't have to mess around.

I was going to do a room divider at first, but my wife was kind enough to let me do a peninsula style. Here's a couple of pics of the demo.
The wall before I got started(sorry Joe, you'll have another wall soon)

This is what I was going to put the tank.

And now with the rest removed.

Nice work, that is what I would have done for that size as well. I should go into consulting for builds and charge a minimal fee to feed my reef addiction

Hey, Sylvia is cool with all this, I actually think she might even like the idea so far. Here's hoping anyway.

Sounds tasty

I have a lady in Calgary that want to trade me her 7.5' x 2.5' x 2.5' tank for my 65 gal hex. So I would have to build a stand similar.

This one worked out well, brought home the lazer level and shot everything in before welding it up. Worked sweet, everything is perfectly level.

Ya, she took the kids to the mall and I brought home a portable snorkel from work, once again, nice to have these to borrow from work. When we were done you would have never noticed we were burning down stairs. And ya, TIG is so the way to go, nice and neat.
