![]() Switched out a powerhead today and pulled out an upgraded MJ12 with a sure grip magnet on it...
The tank side of the magnet had "burst" and there was rust and who knows what other contaminants leaching into my tank... I had never heard of this happening before so I thought Id pass it along for those of you who use these. |

![]() I've had both the sure grip and a sedra impeller "burst". The sure grip I didn't even notice until I went to use it on my 180gal (previously used on my 90) and it fell apart as I was looking at it. Makes me wonder if thats why my tank was having some issues towards the end of my 90gal. I'm sure glad I didn't put it into my 180 blindly. On the flip side, my tunze magnets are doing well with no issues after many years (bought used).

![]() Marineland Penguin 1140 powerhead impeller. Thankfully I was using it mostly for mixing up NSW. Makes me appreciate the more bullet proof design of the AquaClear impellers.

i had a couple of the green ones cleaning magnets (Walmart) for holding coral on the glass awhile back, they didn't last very long before breaking down (have since used agian but covered the base with silicone before putting in the tank. |
