![]() I always thought it was weird how you could go back a few years and change old posts. Im not on any other forums that allow that so it sounds like a bug for sure. I've gone back to look for info/posts I recalled from a long time ago and in one case the user had decided to part ways with canreef. Unlike most who jump ship this individual went and replaced ALL their old posts with a decimal.
I prefer it like this. People also can't back out of comments they've made unless done so within a reasonable time. I agree it is nice to change thread titles. I also don't know of another forum that allows that but I dig. |

![]() What is the new time frame? I know with tank journals, people usually keep updating the top post in a thread with the latest info, etc?

![]() Here's the latest answer
![]() we've reverted back to allowing one hour for edits on the original title and post. This was done to prevent people from removing all the content from "for sale" posts. We felt that original post and price were an important part of the thread for historic purposes, ie, someone wants to know what item X typically gets posted for. While we realize some people update their thread with "new pics posted", etc, we thought that was rare enough that those people could just post on the end of their thread to bring it back to the top. We'll look around and see if we can restrict that to the buy/sell forums only..

![]() Unfortunately it does look like we're out of luck for thread title edits, I can't find any secondary path to editing a thread title.

![]() On the SaskReef website you can go back to edit anytime. It handy for tank Journals for sure!

![]() Yeah now I'm leaning towards favoring a return to the old ways. The power we had before was rarely ever abused and It's pretty obvious it was a handy thing to have.

![]() I personally prefer the old way as well, works great for for sale items and as I recall it was really useful during the nano contests. I'm not sure I see any advantages to this new way since this is a fish forum and not a legal one so editing old posts should be up to the discretion of the original poster and moderators. Also I don't really see how searching through old for sale posts for comparative pricing is an advantage.
However having said that I'm not trying to be difficult or convince anyone to switch it back, not my site so whatever is decided is fine with me. In the end it really doesn't matter. |
