Default Attaching corals

Yup! Another newbie question! Does anyone know of a detailed online article (preferably with pic's) that describes various methods of attaching corals frags ect. I'm still quite away from getting corals but I'd hate to kill them off by improper handling when the time comes .

That would probably be garf.org if you can wade your way through their grotesque website...

Thanks EmilyB, I tried to "wade" through their site, but the water got deep really fast and riptides threw me all over the place I did find some good information though.

That is exactly one of my main concerns!! What do you use to attach two "wet" objects together???

I use Aquastik, a similar product (2-part epoxy). Mine says nothing about putting it on a dry surface and obviously that's impossible. I've found it works fine under water. The main thing to remember is that it isn't that sticky. It's more like cement than glue. You have to put it on a rough surface. It will only work properly for hard corals as far as I'm concerned.

Yah, I use the stuff under water. Its not that great tho. I have spent 15 minutes holding a frag in place while the glue stuff hardens.

The first question to answer is what type of coral are you going to mount. They're all different. It's also not rocket science, so don't make it too hard. Basically glue, epoxy, tie or wedge a coral where you want it to be. That simple. Any super glue works, gels are better. J&L carries epoxy, works great. Your wife may have needle and thread...go to her for those. Wedging requires two or more pieces of rock. We all have that.
