Maybe every couple of months I stick a white card in the tank to let me know if the water is yellowing over time.
If so I use Kent carbon and stick a cup or so in a bag in the return and leave it there for a day or two.
The carbon removes the yellowing.

I use that fluval carbon fill up a Reactor and run it well lord knows ..... i buy mine through BWI in Ontario. total volume 175 gals
