![]() Well water is a bit of a nightmare. I have a booster pump before the membrane, TDS of around 650-760 (depends on the day), whole house water softener. The membrane knocks it down to ~15-20 ppm and I use DI for the rest. I burn through DI unbelievably fast and membranes don't have an extraordinarily long lifespan.
I have found for me (60 gallons total water volume) it is the most economical to buy RO water from the store for the initial fill up of the tank and do water changes, and top up with my own home-made RO/DI (since I've got the system anyways and use it for drinking water) I'm lucky in that there's a good place in town that produces 0ppm water @ about $4/18litre jug |
